With your permission, Queen, I'm gonna go doodle some blueprints for Chronia. I was thinking of Chronia as a theocratic oligarchy of a highly advanced nature, but...how advanced do you foresee Chronia as being? I personally would go with something futuristic in nature, yet in appearance somewhat reminiscent of ancient stone citadels, with robotic kiinuwala patrolling here and there. I don't want to spill all my ideas here, but I will say that the Chronia I envision would have a whole lot of places to explore, history to study, and secrets to discover in its depths. If you've already mapped out Chronia, then I'll toss my ideas your way to see what I can add.

I also see chronia as a bit futuristic. Named chronia because of clockwork theme that came to mind (and i like the word). Always thought of it as most advanced in terms of electronics and such. How advanced do i see it? I'd say I see it representing the element of air. Which features communication, education, intellectual skill, travel, writing, prose or music. Keeping that in mind. Advanced devices for travelling communication seem to come to mind. Air features the suit of swords... (maybe they have pride in their army and government training centres). Uses justice, the wheel of fortune and stars. But also Magician... omg a clockwork magician >.< Wait ignore that. It's getting late.
Here's me rambling on and on. I'll come up with a more constructive things, it's late and my brain could function a bit better.. Go ahead and feel free to map it out. (Your most likely to come up with something better than me. Robotic Kiinuwala.... I cam imagine some heavy kiinuwala used as patrolling for certain shifts.
Ancient crystals? How about their advanced technology is powered by the energy source given off by crystal shards. Since they seem to also affect pets.

Well it looks like you and I were both thinking along the same lines, a city of air and light, very clean and orderly, parading robots, crystal core like thing...while trying not to steal too much from Castle in the Sky at the same time. >.> I'll make the core more robotic in itself to avoid ripping off Ghibli too much.
I was planning on remaking the current robot kiinuwala, starting from scratch, so from now on I'll work on molding robotic kiinuwala to fit the Chronia we create.
Well seeing as how its midnight and I have to get up for work tomorrow after all, I should really go to sleep now. I'll play with some proper city plans when I'm more lucid.

That makes me think more of Victorian era England more than a city of robotic creatures, but if you imagine there being two sides to Chronia... On the surface it is nearly devoid of activity, very calming and peaceful, but in the underbelly of Chronia exists a cavernous, bustling steampunk world full of kiinuwala and humans working tirelessly to keep Chronia afloat? Of course we could just make a whole new region of Lunaire, a colossal steam powered boat city shaped like a whale or something (random idea).

Hmmmm, maybe think of old style clocks, grandfather clocks, etc. They have an old classic style, but still have that mechanical feel with all the gears and all. And personally, I have always loved, in some cases, the mix of metal with wood. Maybe somthing to look into playing around with?

So far then. The upper, more elegant part of Chronia is powered by certain crystals, and these crystals generate quite a bit of heat. In order to keep the crystals at a manageable temperature the Chronian workers have ice from Tilan shipped in and stored with them. This ice eventually sublimates into steam(fortunately ice from Tilan takes a long time to melt), part of which contributes to powering various devices in the slum-like underbelly of Chronia in which the workers live. Excess steam escapes into the air above Chronia, occasionally covering parts of the city in mist.
Assuming you arrive at Chronia via the ferry, you will be treated to a grand view of upper Chronia as you approach the island, only to land at a port on the disillusioning lower half of Chronia. There may be other ways to access the upper levels of Chronia.
